About the 25sec. Project

25sec. is a time based series of portraits about goal settings: representatives from different artistic and scientific contexts give a 25-second statement outlining their professional goals: a goal is a positive action in the nearer future, a dream, a vision or utopia...

The 25sec. project realisation is based on a research through the hierarchy of a scene and context. In collaboration with a local curator and network, we invite a cross-section of participants from diverse levels of institutional and independent contexts. The participants can employ an object that refers to their goal, vision for the future or utopia to support their 25-second statement.

25sec.-Berlin Trailer (2003)

At the centre of the 25sec. project stands each individual statement and portrait, which we assemble into a precisely choreographed sequence of all the portraits recorded.

The 25sec. project is a process-oriented, temporary social sculpture that already manifests itself in the exploration of the question and becomes active through the exchange and discussion of their goals with the others.

The course of the project process already begins before the shooting date for the statements. Because the simple seeming question about goals as a positive action in the nearer future not only provides space for critical self-assessment, dreams, visions and utopias, but also involves the backgrounds and contexts of each individual project participant and his/her individual horizon of experience.

In long sight the 25sec. project leads to a growing network and portrait about a moment in a time about individual goals, and reflects local artistic structures and global action scopes across the operating cultural systems.

In 2003 we started the project '25sec.-'. After completing '25sec.-Berlin' in 2003 and '25sec.-Toronto' in 2006-2007 we began with the production process of two new projects: '25sec.-Taipei' in 2008-2009 Taipei/Taiwan, and ’25sec.-Structures’, Club Transmediale in 2009-2010.
