The National Centre for Contemporary Arts (NCCA) – museum, exhibition and scientific organization established by the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation in 1992.

The National Centre for Contemporary Arts has branches in St.Petersburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Kaliningrad and Ekaterinburg.
The Centre activity is directed to develop actual domestic art in the context of the world art process. Formation and realization of programmes and projects in the sphere of contemporary art, architecture and design in the country and abroad. It closely cooperate with artists, helps modern art domestic masters creative activities:
• Holds explorations in the sphere of theory and practice of modern art
• Develops and introduces programmes in the sphere of education and popularization of contemporary art.
• Organizes exhibitions of actual art, a special art is given to the presentation of the newest art conceptions, Strategies and technologies.
• Coordinates the Russian Federation taking part international exhibiting projects in the sphere of contemporary art
• Holds conferences, congresses and seminars concerning the problems of actual art culture
• Develops and realizes international programmes of specialists exchange in the sphere of modern art
• Creates data base, Representing modern art museum collection
• Holds publishing activity
The Yekaterinburg branch of NCCA began its activities in 1999, having chosen the strategy of introducing contemporary art into social spaces of the city as the base of its activities. The best known initiatives among them are in this sphere are annual festival “Long stories of Yekaterinburg” (from 2003) and OUT VIDEO – a video-art festival on the screens of outers video net (from 2004) Curators – Nailya Allahverdieva and Arseniy Sergeyev. The projects were directed to vary Yekaterinburg image modern democratic multicultural city creating new places of interest, introducing bright modern images and new ideas into the city medium. The Yekaterinburg branch of National Center for Contemporary Art is working on the field of education and actual art popularization.
Today the organization is working in the following directions:
• Educational programmes (scientific conferences of the all-Russia, inter-regional and international level, devoted to the actual problems of contemporary art and culturology, a lecturing and discussion club on actual art problems “Half-open Mondays”
• Public art projects (art in social spaces) continuing the dialogue between contemporary art and cultural Yekaterinburg landscape
• Publishing activities, forming and extending informative space in Yekaterinburg cultural activity.
• International projects. Russian actual art integration into the world artistic process. Projects representing foreign actual art in Yekaterinburg and Russia and Russian-art abroad.
• Active cooperation with cultural institutions in the city as well as in the region, Russia and abroad. We also collaborate with another branches of NCCA in Kaliningrad, Nizhniy Novgorod and Moscow.
Within the framework of the center activities a magazine is published called “ZAART” for art creators and art consumers (4 editions per year). Beginning with September 2005 a board educational program ”Preopen Mondays” was begun in the format of a lecturing and discussing club in cooperation with the Ural State University faculty of art history and cultural studies. The affiliated company is also active with Collecting Ural-Siberian video (DVD, 5 discs, distribution in Russia and abroad). Beginning with 2005 NCCA Yekaterinburg branch has been supporting the festival and award in the sphere of actual poetry “LiteratuRRentgen”.
NCCA Yekaterinburg branch is actively cooperating with cultural institutions in the city and the region, Russia and abroad.
