Statement by Esther Lu >>

Taipei

Esther Lu invited us to realize a 25sec.–Taipei project, to research and contextualize the present and future art situation in Taipei. Furthermore we received the invitation to take part in Good Gangsters in Town at Taipei Fine Arts Museum, for to present our collaborative practice by previous projects – including 25sec.-Berlin and 25sec.-Toronto.

For preparations of the filming unit 25sec.–Taipei, in collaboration with Esther Lu we invite a cross-section of local arts and cultural mediators, to develop a 25 second statement on the question: What is your professional goal and thoughts in relation to Taipei?

The filming unit of 25sec.–Taipei will take place during our A.I.R at TAV – Taipei Artist Village, June 1 – 30, 2008.

We install a temporary 25sec.–studio as part of our exhibition Parallel Time at TAV gallery, June 6 – 22.
By appointment all 25sec.-participants are invited to visit us at 25sec.-studio setting, and to make their 25 second statement – in front of two simultaneously running cameras.

Furthermore we present disc-shaped objects from our P.O.P-series (P.O.P – Punkt.Ort.Position/ point.place.position) in position, which extend as non hierarchic formations through the TAV gallery space.
Our presentation at TAV gallery echoes our collaborative participation in The Good Gangsters in Town, curated by Esther Lu and Adnan Yildiz, TFAM – Taipei Fine Arts Museum, June 21 – August 3, 2008.

The postproduction unit of 25sec.-Taipei will be realized in Berlin, and the premiere presentation will take place in nearer future in Taipei.

Many thanks to Esther Lu, independent curator, for initiating and commissioning this project and for her generous support and enthusiasm in facilitating 25sec.-Taipei.
